Hello, everyone. I have a few questions about the practices of Muslims that I hope someone could help me out with. If an African Muslim could respond, that would be splendid!
I am married to a Muslim from West Africa.
Here are my questions:
1. From the beginning of the marriage, my husband has not included me in any decisions concerning us or our marriage. He controls everything - from what we're going to do on a given day, to our furniture. When we married, he CHOSE what I would wear (it wasn't even my style!) Even when we go shopping at the grocery store, he pushes the cart around, as if to say - "I'm in charge here". I am quiet by nature, and try to be as loving and considerate of him as possible, but I do have a brain!!! Is this normal? Why would he do things like this?
2. About seven months into our marriage, he brought a woman to our house and said that she is my rival! I was flustered, and 6 months pregnant!!! What is this about?
If anyone can answer these two questions, I'd appreciate it. I just need some insight. Some background info: We're separated, and have been for about 10 months. He's 11 years older than me. We've been married since late 2002.
