Since the publication in 1997 of its first volume, a parallel Arabic-English edition of al-Ghazali's The Incoherence of the Philosophers, the Middle Eastern Texts Initiative (METI) has been dedicated to publishing the finest bilingual editions of significant works from the Arabic and Persian traditions. Originally a single series devoted to Islamic philosophy, theology, and mysticism, the Islamic Translation Series has acquired two sister series-Arabic Scientific Texts and Eastern Christian Texts-which will be concerned with other specialized areas of thought.
